Tried + True

we honor traditions

Our school traditions are tried and true practices that reinforce the core values, purpose, and direction of Christ Academy. These events create life-long memories that are shared and passed along from generation to generation.

We’ve got spirit

SCHOOL WIDE

  • The athletic department hosts four school-wide pep rallies every year.

  • The CA community gathers during the first weeks of school to reconnect and welcome new families.

  • Our homecoming includes five dress-up days, concluded with a pep rally in honor of our volleyball team.

  • This “reset” week, typically the first week of the second semester, allows us to renew our minds and focus on Christ as we begin a new year with a concentrated emphasis on spiritual growth for our students.

  • We honor our grandfriends with a special event on campus every fall.

  • We honor active military members and veterans each November.

  • Each department + class celebrates Christmas every year while wearing their favorite Christmas attire during the final week of school before Christmas break.

    Christmas traditions include:

    • Early Education Nativity play

    • Lower School special candlelight chapel service with families

    • Upper School gift exchange and decorating the Blended Learning Center

    • All-school Christmas chapel

  • Students, staff, and parents come together to create a positive environment for physical activity, teamwork, and engaging student bonding.

Early Education and Lower School students participate in games run by teacher, Upper School students and parent volunteers.

  • Each grade level is responsible for researching, producing, and presenting specific semester topics. This even includes our youngest students!

Upper School

  • Our Upper School students traditionally go on an overnight retreat in the fall to bond, reset outside of school rigors and get to know new students.

  • Grades 9 through 12 celebrate HoCo yearly at a Volleyball game and school dance.

  • Senior high students bring in their choice of an apple or pumpkin baked good, students vote for their favorite and elect a winner while enjoying each other’s fellowship.

  • Students answer a testable question with measurable, physical experiment data, compile their findings in a written report, and present their findings on a digital backboard in front of peers and teachers.

  • Junior high students have two dances each year, in the fall and a Valentine's dance.

  • A week of events honoring our graduating class is celebrated each May. Highlights include the Senior Breakfast, the Senior Chapel, and the Senior Pep Rally.
