First Grade Explores God-Given Callings During Career Week
Last week, first graders in Mrs. Barnes' and Mrs. Ford's classes spent the week learning that every career, from healing bodies to growing flowers, is an opportunity to serve the Lord and love others well.
Throughout the week, parents, aunts, uncles, and grandparents from our first-grade classes visited to share about their own careers. Students heard firsthand from doctors, photographers, bankers, florists, graphic designers, ranchers, engineers, and more, gaining a window into the wide variety of ways God equips people to work.
On Friday, the learning came full circle. Each student built and presented a "career house," a hands-on project designed to showcase what they hope to be when they grow up. The houses were as varied as the students who built them, representing dreams of becoming pastors, veterinarians, engineers, teachers, bird explorers, and even cowgirls.
The creativity and thought these first graders poured into their projects were a joy to see, and a reminder that even at six and seven years old, students are already imagining how God might use them.
We can't wait to see where the Lord takes them.
