A Place to Play, Explore, and Grow: the learning garden
Step outside through the Early Education and Lower School breezeway on any given morning, and you’ll hear it before you see it: the happy noise of our youngest Warriors at play. Little builders stacking blocks into towering empires. Busy “chefs” stirring up something special at the kitchen water table. Tiny feet hopping from one leap pad to the next. It’s the sound of imaginations growing, and it’s all happening in our brand-new Early Education Outdoor Learning Center, now named “The Learning Garden.”
This space was one of the pillars of our CA Giving Day last March, and because of the generosity of our Christ Academy community, it’s now a reality. Thanks to your support, we broke ground this summer and had the center ready for our students’ very first days of school.
Built for Little Hands and Big Imaginations
Our youngest learners play, explore, and create in this space regularly, and every corner was designed with them in mind. They play house in the kitchen water table, build entire worlds with their blocks, and strengthen gross motor skills with leap pads, sidewalk chalk, and more, all while pretending, problem-solving, and letting their imaginations run wild.
The center even played a starring role during Construction Week, when it served as the building site for our Box Architecture Day. Fittingly, our students got to be “builders” in a space that was built just for them.
Underfoot, soft, cooling turf gives little ones room to crawl, run, and, yes, sometimes tumble, all while landing comfortably and getting right back up again.
A Splash of Color and Whimsy
With the help of our talented first grade teacher, Kristen Ford, and her wonderful team of volunteers, the space now features a beautiful mural that brings color and whimsy to the center. It’s a joyful backdrop for our students’ adventures and a sweet reminder of what’s possible when our CA family comes together.
Thank You, CA Family
Play is one of the most important ways young children learn. It’s how they build confidence, practice friendship, discover how the world works, and begin to see the creativity God has placed within them. This space gives our EE students room to do all of that, every day.
To everyone who gave, served, painted, and prayed: thank you. Because of you, our youngest Warriors have a place to play, explore, and grow, and we can’t wait to see all the ways they’ll put it to use for years to come.
