Spotlight | Texas Unit in EC, K + Grade 1

Howdy, texas!
Over the past two weeks, students in EC3 through Grade 1 have been diving into the history and heritage of the great state of Texas, learning about its symbols, traditions, and what makes it such a special place to call home.
EC3 and EC4 wrapped up their Texas Week with the beloved Cowboy Breakfast, complete with cowboy dancing and a visit from a real-life cowboy and his horse, Pickles. Kindergarten students headed outdoors for Rodeo Day, where they met a Cowboy Jake and Cowgirl Katie. They discovered how horses help with ranch work, spent time petting the horse, and even practiced their lasso skills alongside Cowboy Jake. Mrs. Barnes and Mrs. Ford’s firsties had the chance to enjoy cowboy songs with Mr. Callaway, take a break to whip up homemade salsa, and then gather again for more music and fun.
From cowboy boots to lassos, music to food, it was a wonderful couple of weeks filled with hands-on experiences that brought the symbols, heritage, and proud spirit of Texas to life for our youngest learners.
