Grade 1 Career Week

career houses in first grade
Each year during Career Week, our first graders are invited to dream about the future, thinking about careers that might be a good fit for them based on the way God has made them and the things they enjoy. To bring those dreams to life, students create a “career house” decorated around the job of their choice and present it to their classmates, explaining what they chose and why.
This year, our students also had the chance to hear from real professionals! Several 1st grade parents volunteered to visit both classes and share about their own careers. From architects to coffee shop owners, pastors to military members, and lots of medical professionals in between, students discovered just how many possibilities there are in the world of work.
Each guest shared:
• What they do in their career
• Whether they went to college (and for how long)
• How they share or show Christ in their workplace
• A fun or important fact about their job
By the end of the week, our 1st graders were ready to share their own career houses with excitement. More importantly, they learned a valuable truth: no matter what career you choose, you can use your gifts to share the love of Christ wherever you are.
