Dear Warrior Family,

A sophomore student, Sammy, was diagnosed with Burkitt's leukemia this past weekend. Burkitt's leukemia acts as a lymphoma cancer of mature B-lymphocytes. It is a form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a type of cancer that originates in the immune system cells, called lymphocytes.

Sammy completed his first three rounds of chemo at Cook Children's yesterday, and he remains strong!

Sammy became a Christ Academy Warrior in 2010 as a kindergartner. Currently, he participates in our varsity basketball program; he is an honor student, was a student council member as a freshman, and a national junior honor society member.

Throughout Sammy's fight, Christ Academy's administration, faculty, and staff are committed to promoting efforts to lift Sammy and his family. The best way for the school community to show its support is through prayer.

I pray, " Lord,

You love Sammy as You love all your children. Bring healing to him. Stay by his side and comfort him through this trying time. Keep us ever mindful of Your loving presence. Bless us with Your powerful healing and comfort his family and us also. Thank You for hearing our prayer! -Amen"

"But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,' declares the LORD…" — Jeremiah 30:17

If you wish to bless the family with resources, please go through the Sammy Strong Facebook page. A t-shirt sale is live. The Sammy Strong t-shirts will be considered spirit wear this school year.

Sammy, you are strong, and the Christ Academy community stands with you.
